Car MOT: Do I need to MOT my car?

Car MOT: Do I need to MOT my car? 1260208

Legislation will be introduced on March 30 and will come into immediate effect for 12 months, after a short consultation with key organisations.

Drivers will still need to get their vehicle tested until the new regulations come into place, if they need to use it.

For people who cannot get an MOT because they are self-isolating, the Department for Transport said it is working with insurers and the police to ensure they will not be negatively affected as a result of things that are out of their control.

If your vehicle tax runs out while you’re self-isolating, you need a valid MOT (unless your vehicle is exempt) to renew your vehicle tax.
