TUI River Cruises will be available from summer 2020 as the tour operator expands its business. The holiday company has purchased three passengers ships and will offer cruises to a number of European destinations. Eager cruisers will soon be able to book seven-night adult only trips on the vessels. The itinerary will be made available on 25 April for the 155-passenger ships.

TUI River Cruises will offer the option to “create bespoke packages to suit their every need,” the company said in a statement.

“Customers will choose their board basis, whether that’s full board plus with wine, beer and soft drinks included with meals, or selecting the premium drinks package, cabin type and even their favourite cocktail in the lounge.

“The cruise line will also boast a handful of private balcony suites for those seeking to add even more luxury to their package.”

The cruises will cater to a wide variety of needs, offering activities from active excursions to sightseeing tours.

TUI River Cruise will also offer £120 credit to put towards any shore excursion bookings, “allowing each customer the perfect opportunity to tailor their holiday to suit them.”

Onboard the ships, there will be “chic and revamped spaces perfect for relaxing and watching the world go by, romantic á la carte dinners for two, casual dining and social spaces to enjoy with friends as well as some of TUI’s world class entertainment.”

The cruise line added: “Travellers will also benefit from some of the extras customers have grown to know and love with a Marella Cruises holiday, such as tips and service charges included in the price and the reassurance of TUI’s expert support line available 24 hours a day.”

The three cruise ships will soon be known as the TUI Maya, TUI Isla and TUI Skyla and will boast between 75 and 80 cabins, including standard, superior or suite class rooms, reported the Daily Star.

Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Cruise for TUI UK &I said: “We’re incredibly excited to be moving into the river cruise market.

“We’re always looking for new opportunities to offer our customers even more variety when it comes to choosing the perfect holiday and our river cruises will really take this to the next level as customers are able to personalise their package whether that’s board type, cabins, excursions and even cocktail choice.

“We’re very proud to be known for the friendliest service, exciting itineraries and great value for money when it comes to our ocean cruises and we look forward to bringing this to TUI River Cruises.”

Marella Cruises, also in the TUI Group announced the launch of new cruise ship, Marella Explorer 2 last month.

The cruise line is showcasing a sizzling schedule of “awe-inspiring” entertainment for their adult-only guests this summer on the new vessel.

That’s according to the firm’s creative director, Steve Leatham of tedGroup, who heads up the 12 shows taking to the decks including two never-before-seen theatrical extravaganzas.

Marella Explorer 2 – which is solely or those aged 18 and over – will be crammed with aerial performers, live musicians and LED lighting, not to mention a theatre which can house around 1,000 of the ship’s 2,000 passengers.

Marella Cruises offers a seven-night Treasures of the Mediterranean cruise on Marella Explorer 2 from £677 per person.
