Bradley Dack welcomes new Rovers deal for Tony Mowbray 9148801

Bradley Dack welcomed the new deal for boss Tony Mowbray, believing him to ‘a brilliant man manager’.

Dack was back to his best as Rovers returned to winning ways against Sheffield Wednesday with a 4-2 victory at Ewood Park.

That came 24 hours after Mowbray signed a new three-and-a-half year deal at Ewood Park through to 2022.

Dack also committed his future to the club by signing a three year extension in June, and welcomed the News of his manager following suit last week.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Middlesbrough, the 24-year-old said: “It’s brilliant news for the club and the whole team that the boss is staying long-term.

“On a personal note, he’s been brilliant for me. He’s given me a free role to express myself.

He’s a brilliant man manager. He knows how to get the best out of players.”

Dack was signed by Mowbray last summer from Gillingham and he netted 18 goals en route to being named League One player of the year.

He has taken well to life in the Championship, scoring 11 times in 18 starts, but says a pep talk from his boss last week proved to be a positive.

Rovers had suffered defeats on the road at both Preston and Wigan, games in which Dack struggled to find space and influence proceedings.

But he told the club website: “We actually had a word with each other at the end of last week, and he said I didn’t look like I was enjoying my football.

“That was the case, after all, we’d been well beaten at Preston and Wigan. He asked me to get back to enjoying my football, because that is when I play best.

Fortunately things improved at the weekend.

“With me, he knows how to get into my mind and knows what makes me tick.”
