Wrexham ensured their place in the hat for the third round of the FA Cup after fighting out a 0-0 draw with Newport County.

Here Post sport writer Rob Griffiths casts his eye over the Dragons showing.

Rob Lainton

Made a good stop to deny Antonie Semenyo, and was largely a spectator for long spells. 7

Kevin Roberts

Some tantalising crosses from the right on his forays forward, was rarely troubled defensively. 7

Jake Lawlor

Solid but unspectacular showing from the big centre-half. 7

Shaun Pearson

Imperious showing from the skipper at the heart of the defence, won virtually everything all night. 7

Mark Carrington

Got forward often to add width to a narrow Dragons side, was also solid defensively. 7

Brad Walker

Wayward with two shots when he should at least have tested Joe Day, but broke up play well in front of the back four and looked dangerous driving forward from deep with the ball. 7

Akil Wright

A little aimless at times, worked hard defensively, but had little affect higher up the park. 5

Luke Summerfield

Grew into the contest after a slow opening, and was able to exert himself on proceedings at the Dragons began to gain the upper hand. 7

Bobby Grant

Denied a goal on his home debut by a wonderful Day save, and also fired into the sidenetting after the break on a lively showing. 7

Stuart Beavon

Canny display from the veteran, denied a goal by a goalline clearance and was a menace all night. 7

Paul Rutherford

Only fleeting moments from the winger, ghosted past two County defenders to set up Grant for his chance, but all too often was quick to turn towards his own goal. 6

Luke Young (on for Wright on 63)

Not involved enough on his cameo appearance. 5

James Jennings (on for Rutherford on 77)

Sent on to move Carrington into midfield, was rarely troubled at left-back. 5

Mike Fondop (on for Beavon on 85)

No time to have an impact. 5
