Tony Bellew has warned Oleksandr Usyk he has to excite this evening if he wants to land an even bigger money-spinner with Anthony Joshua at heavyweight next year.
The Liverpudlian is preparing for what could be his final bout against the undefeated Ukrainian, who holds the WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and Ring magazine titles.
Usyk is also an Olympic gold medallist and unbeaten in 15 fights as a professional, with a view to moving up to the heavyweight division in the near future.
“He cannot afford to come to England and just run away with a boring points win,” Bellew said.
“He has to come here and make a statement.
“He does not get to Anthony Joshua by coming here and scraping past me.
“He has to beat Tony Bellew up. He has to look electric and by looking electric he has to get into the firefight and that is what I wish for.”
Bellew, who has fought across multiple weight divisions during his career, came in at 14st 3lbs during the weigh-in on Friday – one pound heavier than Usyk.
How much is Tony Bellew worth?
According to The Net Worth Portal, Bellew is valued at an estimated £9.6million.
The biggest payout of his career came from his initial bout with David Haye, which was reported to be worth £2.8m.
Tonight’s fight with Usyk is expected to generate around £15m thanks to pay-per-view sales and the gate at the venue.
The 35-year-old Liverpool fighter also has numerous sponsorship deals with the likes of Door Sec, CNP Professional and Signature Bespoke clothing.
When he’s not competing, Bellew often appears on Sky Sports as a pundit.
