Police have released an image of a man they want to speak over a “blatant” sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl in a Primark store.
The youngster was groped from behind by an offender on the first floor of the retailer’s branch in Bury town centre, Greater Manchester.
The man continued to follow the girl around the store and when she stopped for a second time she felt her skirt being lifted.
Upon turning around she noticed what is believed to be a mobile phone in the man’s hand, police said.
The girl ran to a family member who she was out shopping with and told them what had happened.
The offender reappeared and attempted to approach the girl again but was then challenged by the family member and quickly fled out of the main entrance.
Police issued the image as they appealed for information about the incident, which took place at about 4.30pm on Tuesday September 11.
PC Stephen Raine, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “This was a blatant and repeated sexual assault of a young girl when she was simply out shopping with family.
“We are determined to find who has committed this offence.
“We would ask anyone who recognises the man in this picture, or has any information, to get in touch immediately.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8181, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
