Sheffield man to face little-known Australian Michael Zerafa under new trainer John Fewkes on December 8 Brook1

The 32-year-old is targeting a domestic showdown with Amir Khan in March 2019

Kell Brook will have his first fight since March when he takes on Michael Zerafa on December 8 at the FlyDSA Arena in Sheffield.

Brook recently announced he has parted from trainer Dominic Ingle and has now confirmed his new trainer will be John Fewkes.

Kell Brook beat Sergey Rabchenko in March, but had a July bout with Brandon Cook cancelled due to an injury

The former welterweight world champion is targeting a huge domestic clash with Amir Khan early next year, but must first get past his tune-up opponent – a 25-2 Australian super-welterweight contender who previously held the Commonwealth title.

Zerafa’s two losses came to Arif Magomedov and Peter Quillin, and he was recently mentioned by Eddie Hearn as a potential December opponent for rising prospect Anthony Fowler.

“I’m delighted to be back at Sheffield Arena in front of my people,” said Brook. ”The Special One is back and all of my focus and attention is on getting myself ready to put on a spectacular performance for my loyal fans.

“I want to close the year in special fashion and set up some blockbuster fights in 2019 – I was ringside for Amir Khan’s last fight, so let’s see if he’ll be there on December 8, or will he be too shook for Brook?

“This is the biggest opportunity of Zerafa’s career and he will be coming over here to take my scalp but there’s levels in this game and I need to put him away to get the big fights that I desire.

“Meticulous work, dedication, preparation and focus has gone into this camp and I will continue to grin until fight week. I can’t wait to see you all at Sheffield Arena on December 8 where I will shine bright under all of the lights!”
