Some Arsenal fans hail ‘immense’ Granit Xhaka after incredible performance against Liverpool

The midfielder has made steady progress under new boss Unai Emery

Granit Xhaka may not be universally loved by Arsenal fans, but there were plenty who were singing his praises after his performance against Liverpool.

The Switzerland international has often looked out of place at the Emirates, with his poor discipline and wayward passing seeing him drift in and out of games under Arsene Wenger.

Xhaka was immense for the Gunners

In the live game on talkSPORT, Arsenal came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 in a pulsating game at the Emirates.

Although capable of producing long-range screamers, Xhaka’s inconsistency regularly frustrated many Gooners.

However, under new boss Unai Emery, the 26-year-old has looked a completely different player.

Playing alongside fan favourite Lucas Torreira, Xhaka bossed Liverpool midfielder Fabinho – with some Reds fans pleading for Jurgen Klopp to drop the Brazil international as a result.

The midfielder’s indiscipline often let him down at the start of his Arsenal career

Statistically, Xhaka was superb; he made more passes (47), had more touches (59), made more tackles (5) and more recoveries (9) than any other player in the first half.

And fans were quick to heap praise on the Swiss, calling him the best players on the pitch. Check it out below!
