Manchester United boss Mourinho has been tipped to leave the club following their indifferent start to the new Premier League season.

However, recent improved performances against the likes of Newcastle, Chelsea and Everton appear to have bought him more time.

Over at Real Madrid, meanwhile, they are mulling over replacements for Julen Lopetegui who, despite only being named as Zinedine Zidane’s replacement back in June, appears to have managed the side for the last time.

Sunday’s chastening 5-1 defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico has pushed the 48-year-old towards the exit door.

Conte, so far, has emerged as the overwhelming favourite to take the reins over at the Bernabeu.

But Italian journalist Govanni Guardala has claimed that the Italian has instead cooled his interest at taking over because he likes the prospect of managing United.

“There are many rumours about his future,” Guardala told Sky Italia.

“Real Madrid is tempting him but Manchester United is a team that Antonio Conte really likes.

“There are players like Paul Pogba, whom he coached at Juventus, or Alexis Sanchez, Herrera and Lukaku, three players he’s always wanted to sign.

“At the moment nothing is decided with Real Madrid.”

Mourinho does not look to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Earlier this month, big reports emerged claiming the 55-year-old was set for the sack.

Amid a wave of criticism from fans over that decision, though, he has stayed in charge.

And the United boss is set to be given a huge £100million to spend in January.

He wants a defender, having missed out on the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire, Yerry Mina and Diego Godin in the summer.

And Mourinho would also like another forward to provide competition for Romelu Lukaku, who has struggled for form in recent matches.
