The former unified heavyweight world champion says he tried to have a bare-knuckle bout with the current unified heavyweight world champion
Tyson Fury has told the story of the time he claims he asked Anthony Joshua to meet him outside for a street fight.
The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ is set to challenge WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder on December 1, but discussed this past clash with the unified WBA, IBF and WBO king in an interview promoting the fight.
Fury didn’t specify when the supposed interaction happened, but brought it up while speaking to Showtime’s ‘Below the Belt’ after being asked about AJ’s personality.
“He seems pretty spirited, doesn’t he?” Fury began.
“But when I stood face-to-face to him and said, ‘Do you want to get outside?’ His a*** started flapping.
“He s*** himself.
“It doesn’t matter what weight I was at the time, I wasn’t in shape, but I’d have took him outside and kicked his c*** right in for him.
“If a man said that to me – I don’t care if I was unfit or not – he’d be outside and punches. We’d have had to have a fight. Simple.
“But I said that to him and he didn’t want to know.”
It is known that Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury once sparred together as youngsters, and Fury was very complimentary of his adversary that day.
However their relationship has since soured and the pair are now rivals in the upper echelons of the current heavyweight division.
