Arsenal legend is set to become the club’s new manager with Chelsea great as his number two, according to sensational report

Thierry Henry has emerged as the leading contender to become Aston Villa’s new manager, with John Terry reportedly in line to be his number two.

The Arsenal legend revealed earlier this year that he was preparing to enter management after ending his time as a pundit for Sky Sports.

Thierry Henry helped Belgium to third place at this summer’s World Cup, but has no managerial experience at club level

He had been combining his work in the media with his role as part of Roberto Martinez’s backroom staff with the Belgium national team since 2016.

Now Henry is poised to get his shot at management at Villa Park, with the Mail reporting he has been offered the chance to succeed Steve Bruce.

Bruce was axed by the Championship club earlier this week after a woeful run of just one win from ten games.

The Mail claims that Henry is set to be joined at Villa by a former rival from his playing days – Chelsea great and ex-England captain Terry.

Terry made 32 appearances for Villa last season after his 19-year spell at Stamford Bridge came to an end and helped them reach the Championship play-off final, where they lost to Fulham, before leaving in the summer

He officially announced his retirement from professional football on Sunday evening, paving the way for him to start his coaching career, and his return to Villa in a senior role would likely be popular with the fans.

Henry and Terry would be an unlikely alliance, given they were once big rivals. battling for major honours with Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.

They both enjoyed glittering careers as players, winning numerous trophies between them, including the Premier League and Champions League.
