Mac Miller, real name Malcolm James McCormick, was found at his home in San Fernando Valley near LA on Friday afternoon.
The exact cause of his death is yet to be confirmed by the police. However, according to reports by TMZ, it is believed the performer died of a drug overdose.
He had previously opened up in an interview to Vulture magazine about his struggles of dealing with the pressure of fame.
The rapper also explained he was living with depression. The interview was released on Thursday, just 24 hours before his death.
Rapper Mac hit the charts back in 2010 with his first single Knock Knock.
The star shared the stage with his then-girlfriend Ariana at the One Love Manchester concert last July in the wake of the terrorist attack last May.
The influential rapper’s fifth studio album Swimming was announced on 13 July and released early last month.
Her released a single Smaller Worlds back in May, with lyrics: “I’m always sayin’ I won’t change but/I ain’t the same/Everything is different/ I can’t complain.”
In his last post on Twitter, he told his nearly 9million followers: “I just wanna go on tour.”
Tributes for the star are pouring in. Chance The Rapper was one of the first to post a message to Twitter when the News was reported. He said: “I don’t know what to say Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever.
“But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. I’m completely broken. God bless him.”
Shawn Mendes said: “Mac Miller truly was one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time, always had passion towards doing something he always loved.
“My deepest prayers & condolences goes out to Mac’s friends and family at this difficult time. Life is too short.”
