CELTIC’S TUESDAY ATHENS DATE

CELTIC will take on AEK Athens in the Olympic Stadium in the second leg of their Champion League qualifier on Tuesday, August 14.

The third round return tie will take place only three days after the Hoops face Hearts at Tynecastle in the second Premiership encounter of the season.

Brendan Rodgers’ men, who have knocked Armenia’s Alashkert and Norway’s Rosenborg to reach this stage, play the Greek champions at Parkhead in the first leg on Wednesday.

The Irishman must decide whether to bring back some of his more experienced players such as Dedryck Boyata and Jozo Simunovic for the AEK crunch ties.

Mikael Lustig, too, needs game-time after only five minutes last night as a substitute for cramp victim Kieran Tierney.

The league opener against Livingston on Saturday could be a pointer to his thoughts as he plans to guide the team into the group stages for the third successive season.
