The German side beat the Premier League champions 1-0 during their pre-season friendly on Friday night
Former Manchester City winger Jadon Sancho admitted he had a ‘point to prove’ during Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season friendly against the Premier League champions.
The Bundesliga club beat City 1-0 in the International Champions Cup courtesy of a Mario Gotze penalty.
Sancho, who was sold to Dortmund for £8m in August 2017, came off the bench at half-time.
He left Manchester due to a reported lack of assurances over playing time, and after the game he said: “It was nice to see my old team-mates.
“I’m happy that we won and happy to play against my old club. I had a point to prove and I think I did well in the game.
“Hopefully, it carries on through the season. I’m very motivated for the season, very excited. We have a special team.”
Dortmund boss Lucien Favre heaped praise on Sancho after the game, and the England youngster was delighted.
He added: “I’m happy to hear it. I’m glad he has faith in me.
“I just want to have a great season. Goals, lots of assists, help the team win and carry the team sometimes.
“We can reach anything with this squad.”
