The Algeria international joined the Citizens on Tuesday in a club-record move, believed to be around £60 million
Riyad Mahrez has paid tribute to his former club Leicester City and their supporters.
The Algeria winger joined Manchester City on Tuesday in what was described as a “club-record” fee – believed to be in the region of £60 million.
“To all Leicester fans, we have made some amazing memories and history together,” the 27-year-old said on his personal Twitter account.
“Winning the Premiership (in 2015-16) against all odds was just something else and none of this would have been possible without your extraordinary support for me and the team.
“I want to thank all of you for welcoming me to the club right from the start and continuing to give me the belief and encouragement to achieve what we have together.
“I would also like to thank my teammates, staff and everyone at the club who have become a big part of my life in the last few years.”
After joining the Foxes from Le Havre in 2014, Mahrez went on to help Nigel Pearson’s side reach, and then ultimately, stay in the division.
His 2015/16 season was incredible and he scored 17 Premier League goals under Claudio Ranieri to land an improbably title.
He leaves with a record of 42 goals in 158 games for the club, ahead of his debut season in Manchester.
