Samsung fans continue to wait patiently for News about the new Gear S4 smartwatch.
Some thought this latest wearable was going to be unveiled last year at the IFA technology show in Berlin but the Korean technology giant stayed silent about the S4 with devices such as the Gear Sport and Gear Fit 2 Pro unveiled instead.
That means it’s been almost two years since Samsung’s flagship smartwatch has had a refresh.
Rumours are now rife that the Gear S4 is imminent and there’s plenty of speculation about what might be included such as hugely improved health and sleep tracking capabilities plus the ability to check blood pressure.
Now the latest news is suggesting a new Gold colour scheme and much larger battery are inbound.
According to SamMobile, the Gear S4 will be available in three different colours with a new Gold style likely to be revealed at launch.
It’s thought that, like the current Gear S3, there will be two variations of the new watch with a Classic and Frontier making a return.
Only one of these will get the Gold makeover which we are guessing will be an option on the Classic model rather than the more rugged Frontier.
Along with a refreshed colour scheme, another rumour that’s been revealed is the addition of a much larger battery.
The current Gear S3 includes a 380mAh battery but this looks set to be increased to 470mAh on the next generation wearable.
If true, it could mean users get much longer life out of a single charge.
These latest rumours arrive just weeks another piece of speculation suggesting Samsung will ditch its Tizen operating system on the S4 in favour of Google’s OS.
The Korean firm’s smartwatches have used its own TizenOS operating system for years but a report out of China has suggested that Samsung’s next smartwatch will run Google’s newly rebranded WearOS system.
With a launch expected in the comings months, it seems we won’t have long to wait until we see what Samsung has in store.
Along with its new watch, Samsung is also expected to reveal its refreshed Galaxy Note 9 before the end of the summer.
Reports suggest the new Note will be revealed at an Unpacked event on August 9.
This new phablet is thought to include an improved screen, better camera and upgraded S Pen stylus.
A recent leak has also given a hint that Samsung is moving the fingerprint scanner below the camera lens and including a dedicated camera button on the side of the phone.
