According to the BBC, Clinton was a fan of the Patterson’s work and has read all of his Alex Cross books.
The former US president said: “I didn’t read much murder fiction or thrillers until the early 1980s and I just got into them.”
On using his personal knowledge as POTUS, he added: “What I want people to see is that this is real people doing real work.
“It matters. They make decisions. They affect your lives.”

He added: “We really tried to make it as accurate as possible.”
The President Is Missing is also set to become a drama TV series with Showtime.
