Tattoo Fixer Jay Hutton asked photographers for free wedding pictures and got absolutely slammed for it

A photographer has slammed Jay Hutton after he was asked to take picture of his wedding day for free.

The snapper says representatives for the Tattoo Fixers star sent an e-mail around asking if anyone would be interested in taking photos of Jay’s big day.

But the ‘offer’ allegedly stated that instead of being paid for the pictures, photographers would instead get a “credit” on “selected photos” which would be posted on Abergele tattoo artist’s social media accounts.

The former Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan pupil is due to marry fiancée of one year, Monica Rose, in Chester next April.

The snapper, who who runs his own business in London but did not wish to be named, posted the contents of the e-mail on Facebook which provoked a furious backlash from people who criticised the E4 star’s seemingly tight-fisted approach to his big day.

The email, sent directly to the photographer, reads: “Thank you for the interest in the Jay Hutton Wedding, we have received a number of e-mails from some great photographers and I first was to outline the expectations of the agreement.

“We are looking for a photographer duo (or photographer and assistant) that can take pictures of Jay’s special day.

“Ideally close to Chester as this is where the wedding will take place mid April 2018.

“The promotional value of social media is second to none and something we charge a great deal for.

“In exchange for photographing the day Jay will credit selected photos on social media to the photographer and their website.

“After a short period of time after the wedding date we will also allow preselected images to be promoted by the photographer on their own website or social media platform.

“On top of this we would cover Travel and food for the day.”

The email exchange has since been liked almost 200 times on Facebook.

But there was only one answer to their request from the photographer, who said: “Matey from Tattoo Fixers wants wedding photos for a shoutout on Instagram. Banter.”

Angry at the response, the photographer also set up a blog post and wrote : “The response we received is pretty poor practice in and of itself.

“It shows a horrible disregard for other creatives and a disrespectful attitude towards people’s work, careers and, you know, need to pay for stuff.

“The whole ethos of what was being suggested in the email we got is, frankly, b******t.”

He continued: “More than this though is the culture that this behaviour is breeding.

“My fear with this whole situation is that somebody is going to take this offer up, and the gentleman in question will win.

“He’s getting his wedding photographed for free. The loser though, is the person who is perhaps new to the business, and naive enough to believe that this is a really great opportunity.”

Several other Facebook users had their say on the matter, some commenting they are “appalled”, while another said: “Would he do the same for others by offering free tattoos in exchange for likes?

“If so then he doesn’t value his own work as well as that of any photographer.

“Pretty damn disgusting request and if it all comes out roses for them it will encourage others to do the same.”

A representative for Jay Hutton, said: “Jay Hutton’s Management has received a number of offers to photograph his forthcoming wedding with varying degrees of terms including taking pictures in return for social media and endorsement use in return for access.

“In such situations, as in any business negotiation, they would expect this to be a start of a discussion with a mutually agreed conclusion.”
