Winds of Winter – Jon Connington to murder THIS character in Game of Thrones book 6? | Books | Entertainment

A compilation of particularly dark theories on Reddit is a great read for any Song of Ice and Fire fan, and one in particular has been turning heads.

It comes from user TheVillageGoth, who has suggested that Jon Connington will murder Tommen Baratheon.

The youngest son of Robert Baratheon and Cersei Lannister, Tommen has been played in the Game of Thrones TV series by Callum Wharry in seasons one and two, and Dean-Charles Chapman from season four.

The theory suggests simply: “Jon Connington will murder Tommen Baratheon in a very brutal fashion, and it will be meant to mirror Gregor clegane’s murders of Rhaegar’s other two children.

“It’ll be a part of the theme of the whole ‘Lannisters’ crimes will come back to haunt them’ thing.”

While the theory has picked up a lot of attention, not everybody can see it actually happening.

“If that happens, it would kinda fit with his arc of becoming more brutal, more like Tywin,” one said.

“However, while I do think Connington is going to murder some children, I don’t think it will be Tommen. I think he’s going to kill his own family.”

On the latter point, another replied: “JonCon has only a year or so to live, and he is doing anything he can to ensure Aegon sits the Iron Throne.

“If he thinks he needs to kill his own cousins to do that, he’ll do it. A dying man is likelier to do something for short term gain, though it’ll be long term pain.”

All very interesting – and plausible – but of course it’s still pure speculation at this point.

Whatever happens, hopefully we won’t have too much longer to wait: George RR Martin is, once again, expected to release Winds of Winter at some point in 2018.
