Hannah Bardell, 34, the party’s spokeswoman on business, energy and industrial strategy defied a recent ruling by the Commons Speaker John Bercow to show her support for Scotland’s women’s national football team who take on England in the Euro 2017 tournament later today.
Earlier this month Mr Bercow relaxed the parliament’s dress code so that men did not necessarily have to wear ties.
However, all MPs must dress in a “business like attire” when in the chamber.
During the monthly session of Scotland Questions Ms Bardell said: “I’d also like to put on my record the best wishes of everyone in these benches for the Scottish football team.
“I am wearing the colours. I hope you don’t mind.
“I used to play alongside two of Scotland’s national players at university. Their career has obviously done better than mine.”
Earlier today Ms Bardell took part in a charity spots event outside Westminster when she showed off her footballing skills.
