The new God of War release date is 20 April and pre orders are open for the latest game in the franchise.
Sony has exclusive rights to the game on the PS4 console and early reviews suggest Playstation players are in for a treat as bloodthirsty hero Kratos returns to the gaming world.
The game is priced at around £50 from most retailers but there is a way to get it for just £35 using a cashback deal.
Quidco is offering £15 cashback for all new customers who order game through Zavvi here . The deal is available until the end of April but only 500 gamers will be able to take advantage of the offer.
If you do not want to use Quidco, Shopto.net has the game on sale for £44.86 complete with the 5 Shields and Luck of Ages Talisman DLC here. Tesco is also selling the game for £46 in its online store.
What is God of War IV?
God of War IV revisits the world of Kratos with a new style and setting.
Gone are the gods of Olympus, who Kratos destroyed in the first three versions of the game, to be replaced by the gods and monsters of Norse mythology.
The traditional hack-and-slash style of the single-player game remains but Kratos has also ditched his famous chain weapon in favour of an axe that can return to his hands on demand – a bit like Thor’s hammer.
It also introduces Kratos’ son, who joins the adventure and reveals a softer, more caring side to the rage-infused hero of the games.
Blending frenetic action with puzzles, the game has already received rave reviews in the gaming press and is set to be one of the biggest launches of 2018.
God of War IV patches, microtransactions and multiplayer
God of War IV is a bit of a throwback in that there is no multiplayer modes and the gameplay is fairly linear.
The game does not include microtransactions but does come with a day one patch to update small parts of gameplay.
