Thousands of Brummies have headed south to enjoy Cheltenham Festival – hoping for a big winner.
Now, a video has gone viral about just why a big win can be so exciting.
Eddie Boom, from Newcastle, showed it really mattered to him when his bet came through in the four-mile National Hunt Chase at 4.50pm today.
Hilarious footage from Cheltenham Racecourse’s Guinness Village shows the 38-year-old road sweeper’s ecstasy as Paddy Mullin’s Rathvinden won his race, reports Gloucestershire Live .
Mr Boom’s joyous cries of “go on Paddy” came after he put £200 on Rathvinden at 9/2, which saw a return of £900.
Speaking after the race, he said: “I’m over the moon.”
Mr Boom revealed he plans to spend his winnings on presents for his daughters Sophie and Jessica.
His friend Gavin Meadows, from Liverpool, also had a successful day, winning £2,000 from bets on Summerville Boy in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Buveur d’Air in the Champion Hurdle.
Mr Meadows, a 27-year-old Aldi supermarket manager, said: “I’m buzzing. I’m going to spend it on a holiday to Madrid with my girlfriend.”
