New Aston Villa signing Axel Tuanzebe is already making a name for himself at his new club.
And just so fans know exactly how to pronounce his name correctly, he today moved to clear up any confusion by introducing himself on the club’s social media channels.
Watch the clip below from Villa’s Facebook page and you’ll have no problems in the future!
Axel Tuanzebe has revealed how Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s relationship with Steve Bruce was a key factor in his move to Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old defender/midfielder was today unveiled as Villa’s first signing of the January transfer window, joining on loan until the end of the season.
Tuanzebe becomes the second Old Trafford starlet to link up with the claret and blues this season with goalkeeper Sam Johnstone now very much part of the furniture.
Asked about Mourinho’s influence, Tuanzebe said: “I think he knows that it’s a great club. I think he has a good relationship with the manager here, Steve Bruce.
“I think it’s not always about going to the biggest club it’s about going to the club that’s right for you as a player.
“You need to trust the people that are working around you and also develop yourself and get minutes, game time, and come back to United a bigger, stronger player.”

It was simple. It was a short conversation. I’m here to help us get promoted. The push for second place is more important than trying to make play-offs. We have a good enough squad, good enough players to go in and get second place.
I think I am ready for the next stage. This club is striving for promotion. It belongs in the Premier League. I want to help them get there.
Where will you play?
Concentrating on myself, I’d say centre-mid or centre-back. I’d enjoy playing both of the two positions. Again, if it’s helping the team win promotion I’d like to chip in with a few goals, maybe stop a couple goals. But either of the two, I’d like to nail one down and progress.
Familiar with Villa?
Most of the games are on Sky Sports which is helpful. John Terry is a great role model, the way he plays is so calm and composed. I think I have a bit of that element in my game. We’ve good good quality players. You see they’re a passing side. They’re not just kick it up and head it, you know, they like to play and that’s what intrigued me to come here.
There were a lot of other offers but I think the challenge of winning promotion here stood out.
The manager interested me because he has the background at Manchester United.
I spoke to him a couple of times. You need support from the manager that can help you on and off the pitch, particularly when you are away from home.
Jose Mourinho wanted him at Villa
I think he knows that it’s a great club. I think he has a good relationship with the manager here, Steve Bruce, so I think it’s not always about going to the biggest club it’s about going to the club that’s right for you as a player. You need to trust the people that are working around you and also develop yourself and get minutes, game time, and come back to United a bigger stronger player.
Been a captain before – ready to show your leadership qualities?
Most definitely. Leadership comes naturally, that’s who I am. I’m not afraid to discipline people but it’s about helping other people and that’s what I’ve come here to do.
Looking forward to playing with JT?
Definitely. I’ve watched him many times, he’s a great role model, great captain. He’s so calm and composed, he uses his head. The next stage for me is developing the mental side of the game and being more clever and outsmarting the opponents.
What are you expecting from the Championship?
It’s another challenge. People dismiss the Championship but it should be taken seriously. It’s difficult when you’re fighting for promotion, everyone wants to get promoted, and that alone is a big enough challenge. I reiterate the point: I want to help Aston Villa come up.
Looking for an immediate impact?
First impressions for me is everything. It points to what you’re leading to. All I want to do is lay my marker down and continue high standards.
