Tributes have been paid to a walker whose body was found on a Snowdonia mountain.
The deceased man has been named locally as Iwan Huws, who was the drummer in popular Welsh rock band Yucatan and was in his 30s.
Today, his band mates paid tribute to their colleague, saying they were “heartbroken” by his death.
Lead singer Dilwyn Llywd said: “We sympathise with Elin [his partner] and Iwan’s family during this difficult time.
“It is an enormous loss to all who knew him. To be honest it is difficult to comprehend. This has broken our hearts.”
Mr Huws, a former pupil of Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle, who lived in Rhosgadfan near Caernarfon, was described as an “experienced hill-walker”.
His local councilllor, Cllr Aeron Jones, said: “I am saddened by the death of someone so young. My sympathies are with his family at this sad time and I am sure the community will support them in their loss.”
He had left word he intended to climb Tryfan via the North Ridge of the mountain on Sunday afternoon. He was reported overdue from the walk on Sunday evening and a search was launched.
More than 40 rescuers from seven mountain rescue teams were involved in the search for Mr Huws in atrocious weather conditions, and his body was discovered on Monday shortly after 10am.
Mr Huws’ body is yet to be formally identified, and an investigation is underway into the circumstances of his death.
