Roger Federer will be back in action at the Australian Open next week as he looks to defend his crown.
The Swiss kickstarted a fantastic season with a five-set victory over Rafael Nadal in the final at Melbourne Park last year.
And he is hoping for much the same this time around, branding the win over Rafa the “best” of his career.
“It was an amazing final, an amazing moment for me in my life and it’s great to be back here,” he said at the draw.
“I had all these great five-setters and at the end the epic match against Rafa.
“The fifth set was maybe the best set I ever played.
“It was a huge surprise. It was the highlight of last year, beating Wimbledon and all the other tournaments I played.”
After the five-set victory over Rafa, Federer went on to have a stellar season finishing second in the ATP rankings to the Spaniard.
However, despite finishing the year second best, the Swiss is favourite to reclaim his crown in Melbourne.
Federer is currently priced at 2/1 for the first Grand Slam of the year, while Nadal is at 5/1 with the bookies.
The 36-year-old get his title defence underway against Aljaz Bedene while Nadal will take on the Dominican Republic’s Victor Estrella Burgos.
The Australian Open will run from January 15-28.
