Bugatti Chiron may be the latest and greatest hypercar but it could be one upped for the second time in a number of weeks by Hennessy’s new car.
It’s more bad News for Bugatti who recently lost the 0-249mph-0 record to the Koenigsegg Agera two weeks ago.
Now it could lose its hypercar supremacy to the American tuning house.
Hennessy Performance Engineering revealed a picture which revealed the rear headlights and portion of the car’s bumper next to a sign which reads ‘SPEED LIMIT 300.’
Now, one would initially assume that the sign refers to km/h which would put the next car’s top speed at 186mph.
This however would not make any sense for Hennessy who has already produced a car that Travels 270mph.
Despite this the Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition holds the current official world record at 258mph.
So it must mean that the manufacturer is aiming for, or perhaps even achieved the dizzying goal of 300mph in a production electric car.
This beats all the competition significantly including both the Bugatti Veyron and Chiron and Hennessey’s own Venom GT, which sits at the top of the list.
Typically Hennessy tunes already fast cars to make them quicker, for example previous cars they have built have features some Lotus DNA.
The new Venom F5 will however by an all-new car.
On the company’s Website it says that the Venom F5 will ‘produce more than 1,451hp and have a top speed that exceeds 290mph.’
The car will be built in Texas by the Hennessy team, who are looking to directly challenge the Bugatti Chiron for the title of the fastest car in the world.
Hennessy has its work cut out trying to find tyres that will be able to support such a lofty record attempt without either exploding or completely disintegrating.
