West Brom are thought to be considering another move for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho – but the Reds will ask for a fee of £30m.
Despite being out of favour at Anfield, after the centre-back fell out with Jurgen Klopp in pre-season last year, there’s no sign of Sakho being allowed to leave on the cheap.
Sakho turned down an opportunity to join Albion on loan last summer, though if he leaves Merseyside this, it’d likely be in a permanent deal.
The French international spent the second half of last season out on loan at Crystal Palace and impressed, aiding Sam Allardyce and the Eagles in their successful fight against relegation.
Having seen Allardyce leave Selhurst Park this summer, there doesn’t appear to be any interest from new manager Frank de Boer in bringing Sakho back to the capital.
Tony Pulis is continuing his hunt for a new centre-back, and admitted there are “irons in the fire” with less than a fortnight of the window.
Jonny Evans has interest from Leicester and Manchester City, while Albion have been strongly linked with Joel Ward, Kevin Wimmer and Chris Smalling this month. They’ve seen a number of bids turned down for Ben Gibson, too.
Evans, Gareth McAuley, Allan Nyom, Craig Dawson and Ahmed Hegazi are currently the Baggies’ only senior defenders.
