West Ham are believed to be on the verge of completing a loan deal for Manchester City’s Joe Hart, as Slaven Bilic looks to shore up his goalkeeping options ahead of next season.
As soon as Pep Guardiola arrived in the Premier League he made it clear to Hart that the England international did not have a future at the Etihad Stadium. After signing Claudio Bravo, the former Barcelona boss shipped Hart out on loan to Serie A outfit Torino, where he spent the season as the main man between the sticks.
But now, Hart seems to have found a way out of his Guardiola nightmare – with Premier League rivals West Ham. According to Sky Sports, the shot stopper has already undergone a medical with the Hammers and will join initially on loan, with the east London outfit holding the option to make the deal permanent next summer.
Hart’s obvious quality has meant that he was always likely to remain in the Premier League (as he has previously stated was his desire) and despite being over in Italy last season, the 30-year-old maintained his place as England’s number one goalkeeper.
The move will be seen as perfect for West Ham, who struggled a little last season when it came to goalkeepers.
Usual number one Adrian was displaced in the team by back up keeper Darren Randolph after Bilic lost faith in the Spaniard – and the Hammers were always likely to find a replacement over the summer. In Hart they have a Premier League veteran who has played at the very top level, and should fit in perfectly at West Ham.
