A TERRIFIED teenager says he was scared for his life when two masked men demanded cash from him in a park.
The 14-year-old boy and his friend, both from Hedge End, were approached by two men, who were wearing bandanas, in Wellstead Park.
The pair demanded the youngsters hand over cash and valuables during the incident, which has now left their parents “scared to let the children out”.
Fearing the men had a knife, the teenager said: “Me and my friend were at the park playing football when two men in bandanas came over to us.
“That was when the threats and demands started, they were asking us for valuables and cash.
“When we said we didn’t have anything on us, they suggested we should go home and get some money for them.
“At first they said just £10, then it was doubled to £20.
“We were then escorted to my friend’s house, fearing for our lives. We thought they had a knife as we could hear a scraping sound.
“We arrived at my friend’s house and the offenders waited outside as we walked in.
“But we had other ideas, we locked the door and told my friend’s mum who called the police immediately.
“The guys then fled almost instantly after they figured out what had happened.”
The mother of one of the teenagers involved said she was left petrified as a result of the incident, which happened at about 8pm on Sunday night.
She said: “It’s made me scared to let my children out as something could happen.
“Why would somebody want to do anything like this?
“It has left my son totally petrified.”
A Hampshire Police spokesperson confirmed that it was investigating the incident.
It said the two suspects were aged between 17 and 20.
Anyone with information should contact Hampshire Police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44170181196.
