THE SUMMER festival season is still to come, but indie rockers The Amazons have already announced a ten date autumn tour and are returning to Southampton.
The band, who are championed by some of the most influential names in music, are veterans of playing here and sold out The Joiners last month. Now they’re returning for their biggest show in the city at the 600 capacity Engine Rooms on Friday October 13 where they last appeared supporting The Strypes two years ago.
As news of the tour broke the Reading four piece revealed their next single will be Junk Food Forever with lead singer-guitarist Matt Thomson, bassist Elliot Briggs, guitarist Chris Alderton and drummer Joe Emmett premiering a new version of this old favourite on Radio One with MistaJam.
Along with Yorkshire’s rising stars The Sherlocks and Southampton’s own Novatones and Wild Front they’ll join worldwide names like Arcade Fire, David Guetta, Catfish and The Bottlemen and Rod Stewart at the Isle of Wight Festival in June.
Before then they release their hotly anticipated self-titled debut album on May 26 that will feature the sweeping epic sounds of singles Black Magic, Little Something, In My Mind and Stay with Me.
The Amazons play The Engine Rooms on West Quay Road, Friday October 13. Tickets £12. They play Isle of Wight Festival (8-11 June) on Sunday June 11. More at theamazons.co.uk.
