A prolific offender who crashed a stolen car into the living room of a house has been jailed.
Jonathan Craig Edwards ploughed the Toyota Corolla vehicle through the front wall of the home in New York Terrace in Abergele , having driven at speeds of up to 70mph in a 30mph zone.
No-one was injured in the crash, but the judge sentencing him at Caernarfon crown court today told 42-year-old Edwards the offences were “as serious as they could be”.
He caused around £17,000 of damage and left the residents in a state of shock.
Judge Record Gregg Bull QC said: “This was a case of incredibly dangerous driving, travelling at speeds of 70 miles per hour in a 30 zone.
“The results of your actions could potentially have been horrifying.”
Edwards had pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified but he was found guilty by a jury, who also returned a guilty verdict on charges of causing damage to property and aggravated vehicle taking of the car.
The court heard Edwards, of South Parade, Pensarn, had 119 offences under his belt including 40 convictions, some of them for burglary and dishonesty offences.
He was sentenced to 25 months in prison for the November 1, 2016, crash, was also disqualified from driving for fours years and must take an extended test before being allowed back behind the wheel.
