Juventus have received a timely boost with the news that Argentinian star Paulo Dybala should shake off his ankle injury to face Barcelona on Wednesday night.
According to Marca, the striker picked up an ankle injury in the Bianconeri’s victory over Pescara at the weekend, causing panic that he could miss the return leg.
However, it is understood that Dybala was only taken off as a precaution and the young starlet should be fit to face Barcelona in the Champions League.
Dybala was sensational in the first leg, with two goals that ensured the Old Lady hammered the Catalan giants 3-0. Dybala has been heavily linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid, and will surely have caught the eye with such an impressive performance against one of the El Clasico giants.
Juventus know that despite a three goal advantage, the tie is far from over. Ordinarily, Barcelona’s potent front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar can dismantle any team on their day, however, perhaps critically Barca will be without the suspended Brazilian Neymar for the clash.
The Old Lady will have learnt lessons from Paris Saint Germain. The French side took a 4-1 lead to the Nou Camp in the last round, only to be subject to an historic 6-1 Blaugrana comeback.
Max Allegri will use that result as a reminder that his side’s’ job is far from done, and it will take maximum concentration to prevent a second sensational turnaround from Barcelona.
Which of these unlucky omissions most deserved to be nominated for the 2017 PFA award?
David Luiz (Chelsea)
Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur)
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea)
Idrissa Gueye (Everton)
Sadio Mane (Liverpool)
Tom Heaton (Burnley)
